What is Kinect? How does it work?
Kinect is the latest addition to the highly popular Xbox 360, it was first announced as Project Natal and then in June of 2010 Microsoft had released the final name, which is Xbox Kinect. Xbox Kinect is basically a really powerful camera which plugs into your Xbox USB port that has the ability to record your movement so you can use your body to play games. We called the Kinect a webcam but that is a understatement, the Kinect has the latest technologies within their hardware such as a motorized tilt mechanizm so it never loses track of you while you are moving around. The camera uses infrared technology and pin points 48 joints on your body and tracks them as you do any kind of movement. Kinect has a built-in microphone so you can still communicate without wearing a headset. Also, Kinect can do more than just see you in infrared; it can record you in full RGB color so you can sign in to you Xbox Live account by facial recognition, how cool is that!
Does it add any new features?
Yes! The Xbox Kinect adds plenty of new features to keep you occupied for a long long time! When you connect your kinect (hehe), you get a brand new interface that is much more simpler by getting rid of the tabs for icons, using voice to chose menu options, and more. Yes, thats right! I said using your voice to select options. By having the Kinect, lets say you wanted to load Netflix, then all you would need to do is say the word 'Netflix' or you can wave in the air to hit the Netflix button; Pause by saying the word 'Pause' or reaching in the air to select the virtual pause button. If you think that is all you are mistaken, the Kinect adds much more than that, such as VideoKinect allowing you to have live video chat or watch a video together with your friends that are on Xbox Live or Windows Live Messenger.
How many games will there be available on release?
When the Kinect is launched there will be a total of 15 games being released with it, more than enough to keep the whole family having fun for a long time to come. Below is the list of the titles that will be available on release.

Some of the games include:
• Kinectimals - think Nintendogs in HD with deadly, endangered species.
• Kinect Sports — Microsoft's answer to Wii Sports (with bowling, soccer, ping pong, track & field, boxing and volleyball).
• Kinect Joy Ride — a zany racing game that we found fun but a touch loose in terms of controls
• Kinect Adventures! — "jump, duck and dodge" as you ride through various obstacle courses (20 in all)
So if you are expecting the next best FPS game to rival Call of Duty, and to be able to use a gun with your hands, don't get your hopes up. This is more like a next-generation Wii, where the whole family can have fun while saving lots of money by not needing 4 controllers!
So what is the price on this thing?
The Xbox Kinect is currently priced at $150.00, to some it is a fair price, others it's not. I think the Kinect was priced right, it is not like a full new console so you wouldn't charge $300.00 for it, and it also isn't a rushed, piece of junk "add on", Microsoft put lots of work into the Kinect and with it's current price I believe it will sell out very fast on release day, so it would be best to buy one while you can.
